Read Matthew 25:14-26
- In this parable, who does the master represent? The journey? The talents? The servants?
This is a four part question. The master represents Christ. The journey is Christ going to be with the Father but his return is coming. The Talents are the things God has entrusted to us. The servants represent us.
- Which one of the servants do you most relate to? Why?
Go around and ask everyone to share.
- On what basis are the servants rewarded? Does this seem fair to you? Why or why not?
The servants are rewarded on the basis of what they did with the talents they were given. They were judged on the productivity and management of the talents. -Note: The underlying issues here are trust, faith and obedience.
- How would you describe your management of the talents (financial and other) that God has given you? Have you developed them?
Go around and ask everyone to share. If people are slow to respond you may follow up with the question… What stops most people from developing their talents to the fullest?
- If the Master were to return today, in what areas of your life would He reward you for being a good steward? What areas would He say you need to be more wise with?
Go around and ask everyone to share.
Read 2 Corinthians 9:10-12
- According to this passage, what is the purpose of God’s blessings to us? Share a time when someone else was generous to you because of God’s generosity towards them.
We are blessed to be a blessing to others. It is not good enough just to be thankful. Go around and ask everyone to share.
- What is one way you can use the finances God has given you to further advance God’s Kingdom? According to this parable, what will happen to you if you use your talents to bless God’s Kingdom? What can this group do to help you in this regard?
Go around and ask everyone to share.
